BBW Cruise interview

BBW Cruise organizer Jean
Jean

The following interview is with Jean, organizer of the BBW Cruise based in Chicago, departing from various ports in America. The interview was done in June 2010.

Coen: Hi Jean, can you please talk a little about the BBW Cruise, how long have you been organizing this, where you got the inspiration for such a really unique concept and if there was a lot of interest in it from the beginning?

Jean: I went on my first BBW Cruise with one of my best friends. Not knowing what to expect, not knowing anything about the ‘BBW Cruise’. I loved what it stood for. I loved the concept of a group of people with similar interests getting together and traveling with each other. So, I took over the cruise that very next year and have been doing it ever since! So, it's been 8 years with me doing this.

Coen: As the name implies, this is a BBW cruise, for Big Beautiful Women and their admirers. Can you tell us about the kind of people that come along? For example, are there people that don't like the clubs and look for something more exotic, or is it really diverse?

Jean: I don't put the BBW Cruise in the club category. Clubs are to meet and dance for one night only. We do this for 7 or 8 nights! We party together, we have dinner together, we hang at the pool together, we do excursions together. You feel empowered in a group, versus traveling alone or with a friend. We, as BBW's tend to accept diversity more. On our BBW Cruise trip we have all sorts of people come with us on our cruises or trips. I will give a little hint to the men out there: (we have more women than men, so you men better get yourselves ready for a cruise!).

Coen: So do you see returning visitors or mostly new ones on each cruise?

Jean: When you come on the BBW Cruise trip, you have made friends for life. Most of all the people who have come on the cruise have returned for more fun and excitement. We don't label the new people. They are just friends we haven't met yet.

Coen: Can you talk a little about the kind of facilities and activities people can participate in, in the cruise? I imagine there is a restaurant, a bar, dance club, swimming pool perhaps.

Jean: On the cruise we have private parties. But we also put up a board telling everyone where we are going. Every night we go to a show, then the disco and dance all night. When the disco closes we usually go up to the Lido deck and snack on pizza and drink and dance some more! The ship has a casino, live Vegas style shows, a comedian, pools, beautiful delicious restaurants, 24 hours a day room service, bingo, games, a game room for kids, day care for children and teen rooms, exercise room, spa with some great deals and of course you get to see parts of the world you have never seen!

Coen: What would you say to people who like what they read about these cruises, but are hesitant to take the step? For example is there a site people can see photos and/or read user stories/testimonials?

Jean: BBW clubs and bars are great, but we are a VACATION. A place to be who you are, not worry about the outside world and have fun! We don't do weight seminars and things like that. This is a vacation! Not school. Come and have fun, live, put on that bathing suit you haven't worn or afraid to wear. Because at the BBW Cruise we make travel more comfortable and accessible for everyone! I can even book your airfare or any travel assistant you need! So when you are ready for that exotic vacation with the Big Beautiful Women of your dreams, come sail with us.

Coen: Thank you for doing this interview Jean.

Jean: Thank you very much Coen.
